I was a bit waiting for this one. Enchanting piece!
Très intéressant. Merci pour cette découverte.
What a masterpiece! The last part features the complete history of harmony. Pure beauty and great performance, thank you for sharing! This is a Max Reger arrangement for strings: ua-cam.com/video/q8tM-10iEoY/v-deo.html Hope you enjoy it!
Fugue 3:02
I love this - I haven't played it for years. It's worth revisiting. Played so well here too
sehr klar Spiel
¡Muy bueno¡, gracias.
I found you serendipitously searching for this Sonata. I cannot believe that your videos have not appeared in my recommendations. Fantastic organ and performance. So happy to find your channel! St. Aegidien looks and sounds like an awesome place! Ich verehre Mendelssohn!
What an overwhelmingly fantastic work, it's so exhausting in the most beautiful way, even the fugue with such a tonal subject, Reger works out inspiringly thorough! Heard the piece many times, but having the score made it so eye opening, and especially when the fugue is played not too fast and with genuine expression, wonderful recording
The bass in this fugue is outstanding. It is out of this world.
Definitely going to ask the organist at my parish to play this for the postlude after mass. A
Sumamente Maravilloso!!!
a weird, but lovely ending!
Thanks for sharing this
Perfect as usual!!! This piece reminds me of Duruflé!
As I get deeper and deeper into this piece I realise how beautiful it is and it has an almost chamber music like quality about it.
Thanks! I expected a baroque piece (I think I confused the name with Lalande) - I learned otherwise very soon after it started!
Magnificent interpretation Bernhard!!!! I didn't know you have a UA-cam channel! I also have one! I've just started studying this GRANDIOUS Passacaglia! Wish me luck! Greetings from your new subscriber that you know personally!
Grandios! Life an den Max Reger Tagen in Weiden im Dom..2024 wäre schön!!
The canon in this is absolutely sublime
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😃😃😃😃😃
Genial gespielt!!
Absolutely fantastic as usual and one of my favourite pieces 👏🏻🥃
Spannend!
OK. Now I'm confused.
❤❤❤BACH❤❤❤
Beautiful!

Why is this piece not in g sharp minor
Very nice peace, i assisted the organist Jan Hage during a concert with choir with this play
❤❤❤
I am more familiar with Brahms' Chorale Preludes, but it was a very interesting listen. I suddenly twigged to a greater degree than before the line between Brahms and Schoenberg. Tonality seems very stretched in the chromaticism in this fugue.
This is the perfect tempo, IMO. So beautiful.
Would you consider this piece as difficult? I just wonder because I was starting to learn Duruflés Toccata and I almost finished Viernes Toccata. I found the latter quiet "easy" to get into my fingers. I have also learned other pieces like the famous Widor Toccata, Dorian toccata and there are specific pieces that I find even harder to learn as the ones that are widely known as "hard pieces". With this one I find the pedal part very challenging and also that some notes are staccato while in the other hand or in the pedal it's legato. Very hard for me. Is this only me or is this piece really not a "piece of cake" as easy as it may sound.
I think, Guilmant's op. 84 is easier than these Toccatas. Legato in the pedal and non-legato chords in the manual is common practice for romantic french organ-music. Guilmants writes the exceptions down. He means not a short staccato, but a kind of portato, which seperate the pedal notes similar to the chords in the manual.
@@BernhardSchneider1309 Ok, so I guess it's just that I'm not used to this kind (or much) of pedal work as in other pieces that I've learned, the pedal part is easier for me.
You don't get to see 7 flats (or sharps) very often, since in the tuning systems that have been dominant in the West such key signatures are fully enharmonic with simpler key signatures. But I heard elsewhere (I think it was actually in a college course on Romantic piano music) that Brahms was somewhat fond of accumulating sharps and flats. In some tuning systems (such as 31 equal divisions of the octave or the closely related 31 notes per octave extended quarter comma meantone), stacked flats and sharps actually ARE NOT fully enharmonic with other notes, so I wonder whether Brahms may have been thinking of such tuning systems even if he knew that he would never get the chance to use them? (Unfortunately, choices for either of the above alternate tuning systems are extremely limited, with none in existence in the time of Brahms, and I only know of two in existence today, one being the Fokker organ of 1951, and the other being the modern replica of the Arciorgano of Nicola Vicentino, after the original from the 1500s; neither would be tonally up to the task of playing the works of Brahms, and the Arciorgano replica -- while sounding noticeably better than the harsh and asthmatic Fokker organ -- has terrible ergonomic as well, judging from the videos of it being played.)
Fantastic recording, and be that I mean READABLE! All too often, Reger is unlistenable because no one can tell what's going on. No so with this recording...great registration and timing.
